Rhodanthe manglesii – Sunray Everlasting
A beautiful annual plant with everlasting daisy flowers in late winter through spring, with spot flowering in summer and autumn. The buds are silver, opening to pink or white flowers with a darker ring around the yellow centre which adds to the attractiveness. The plant is upright and branching, and the leaves are heart shaped. This is an easy to grow plant which looks stunning mass planted for a wildflower meadow look, they attract bees and butterflies and other interesting pollinators. They make great cut flowers as well as good to use for long lasting dried flowers, pick them in bud and hang upside down to dry.Likes a sunny open position in sandy to loamy soil.
Sow seed in autumn to early winter, they will need protection from frost. Sow direct where they are to grow or in containers, and only just cover with fine soil….planting too deep will deter germination. The seed will start growing in 1to 2 weeks, but some seed can take longer, germinating when conditions are suitable. Flowering is in 3 to 4 months from sowing.
