Grow Your Own – How To Be An Urban Farmer book with three packets of seeds (cherry tomatoes, lettuce and parsley) : This special offer has been put together with beginner vegie gardeners and/or children in mind as the seeds selected are edibles that are relatively easy to grow and can be worked into so many delicious and simple meals. It can be hard sometimes to get children to eat their vegetables, but from my own personal experience, when they have a hand in helping to grow their own, they eat them by the handful!
This pack comes with the book “Grow Your own – How To Be An Urban Farmer” containing all the knowledge you need to grow your own food at home. It is a soft cover edition. It includes 1 packet of lettuce seeds (20 seeds) , 1 packet of cherry tomato seeds (25 seeds) and 1 packet of parsley seeds (20 seeds)
Grow Your Own – How To Be An Urban Farmer is an accessible and inspiring book full of clever solutions to help maximize even the tiniest urban growing space, sustainably.
Grow Your Own won a Laurel for best gardening book at the Horticultural Media Association of Australia in 2020.
Angus Stewart and Simon Leake, leading experts in horticulture and soil science, share skills and practical advice and scientific knowledge to help get the best from your edible garden.
Whether you are growing herbs in a window box or harvesting carrots from a community garden, this book will teach you how to identify suitable crops and the nutrients they need to thrive, set up healthy soil, and create many styles of productive garden beds. Propagation, drainage and composting are well covered, as are tackling pests and diseases, establishing worm farms, and keeping chickens and bees.
No matter the space, there’s room to grow!
Cherry tomato- Sow early spring to summer in most areas, all year round in warm northern areas. Sow direct where you want them or into pots or punnets, 5mm deep and keep moist. Will give trusses of small cherry sized fruit. Likes a sunny position. Can be grown in a large pot.
Lettuce- an ‘all year’ variety, sow 3mm deep and keep moist. A ‘butterhead’ type with mid green leaves with good flavour, likes a rich well drained soil and regular watering.
Flat leaf (Italian) parsley- Sow early spring to summer in most areas, all year round in warm northern areas or if you have a frost free protected spot. Sow direct where you want them or into pots or punnets, 5mm deep and keep moist until germination. Suits sun to part shade. Can be grown in a pot. A versatile addition to many dishes.
