Read all about creating a habitat garden in A.B’s book and then put this knowledge into practice with the perfect Australian native habitat creating plant, Brachyscome ‘Mauve Mystery.’

More about the book: An exciting addition to the ‘Gardening with Angus’ shop is A.B Bishop’s, ‘Habitat.’ A magnificently illustrated, practical guide to creating a wildlife friendly Australian garden. Habitat covers the importance of understanding how all aspects of the backyard ecosystem are interlinked in order to create a truly authentic and effective habitat for a range of different creatures. This book is packed with information and includes a detailed plant directory. It also provides instruction on what plants (both exotic and native) suit what creatures and why. ‘Habitat’ is truly an inspiring and informative read from cover to cover. A.B Bishop co-authored with Angus Stewart the award winning book ‘The Australian Native Garden.’ ‘Habitat’ is her first solo book, and is a soft cover edition. The passion for wildlife and conservation is uplifting and definitely shines through this book.

More about the plant:  Brachyscome multifida ‘Mauve Mystery’ comes planted in a 125mm High, 100% biodegradable coir pot, which can be put straight into the ground or larger pot, which eliminates shock to roots during transplanting.

This popular and very easy care Australian native daisy is grown for its dainty soft green foliage and masses of intriguing mauve and white flowers produced during the year. The flowers are mainly mauve, but can also sometimes have white areas or be all pale mauve to white. A great plant for edging, containers and baskets, and massed planting where it can provide year round flowering. Little pollinating insects such as butterflies and bees are attracted to the flowers and small lizards can hide underneath the dense foliage. Suits a wide area, from warmer climates like Sydney and Brisbane to cooler climates (in positions protected from heavy frost) such as Hobart and Canberra.

Position- sunny to partly shaded, in moist well drained soil. Flowers best in a sunny spot. Prune after main flowering to maintain a compact shape, fertilise in spring and summer for best flowering.
