With gardens in many suburban areas becoming smaller and smaller it is becoming harder for gardeners to justify the space required to grow a range of fruit trees. However, the ingenuity of fruit tree propagators is now providing a solution to this dilemma.
An enterprising nursery called the Fruit Salad Tree Company produces a range of trees with multiple varieties grafted onto a single tree.
Imagine a citrus tree that can give you oranges, lemons mandarins and limes, or a stone fruit tree that provides apricots, peaches and nectarines for instance.
The only difference in the maintenance of these trees is that the varieties on each plant will tend to grow at different rates which mean that some judicious pruning of the more vigorous varieties will be desirable.
