A fantastic way to brighten up your living areas is through potted bulbs that can be brought into the house when they are in flower. Now is the perfect time to plant a range of spring flowering bulbs that will provide a wonderful feature for your coffee table or outdoor balcony setting. Hyacinths and jonquils are good choices for maximum perfume while tulips and Dutch iris can provide a great range of colours.
Decorative containers such as bowls will enhance the ornamental value of your plantings. Choose a well-drained potting mix and fertiliser designed for bulbs and follow the manufacturers directions. When choosing bulbs give them a squeeze to make sure they are firm and avoid any that show any traces of mould on the surface. Grow the container outdoors in a sunny position and bring it into the house when the buds just begin to open.
