There is nothing more spectacular than the fiery tones of the spectacular autumn foliage of deciduous ornamental trees. Some of the most colourful species such as liquidambar (Liquidambar styraciflua) and the Chinese tallow tree (Sapium sebiferum) are propagated commercially by seed resulting in considerable genetic variability in characteristics such as autumn foliage colour. It is therefore a very good idea to choose specimens for your garden during the autumn to ensure that they will give you the most spectacular colour possible.
